Well, the last few days of fishing had a lot of women in town, the weather and water warmed up which was really nice but seemed to stall the fish a bit. We still had  a bit of trash fish and some steelhead caught! A few big Wild fish! And then some lucky ladies managed to sneak in and grab some most fish placing! Rebecca Kelly with 2 fish and 61″ Hatchery inches got her into 4th Place Most Fish! Carrie Homburg slid into 3rd Place Most Fish with 3 fish! We also finished out our food drive with over 2,000 items donated by you ladies!! Which is just….AMAZING! Check out the live video below from fish dance with all those …

Great past few days!! We may be starting to wind down to the end but hasn’t slowed anyone down we’ve had a lot of boats out every day! Steelhead and good times were caught, of course. Which reminds me, don’t forget about Fish Dance the awards ceremony on the 16th…at 7PM at Seven Devils! A couple Biggest Fish leader changes through the weekend but no changes to our Most Fish. Ladies have caught more than one fish but has been a hatchery and a wild, so without being able to measure the wild is limiting those hatchery measurements! The fishing did pick up a little with the change in weather. On Thursday 3/7, Casual Merritt from Andrea Yoakum’s group reeled …

Well, the snow has finally given us a breather and we have had a bit warmer weather, making the river road much easier. Some sunshine has graced us too! This weekend wasn’t quite as exciting as before for fish caught, the biting slowed down a bit. The ladies perseverance though results in steelhead still in the boat, as well as some trash fish. Karlene Madsen’s group on Saturday really persevered with 7 fish! We did have a leader board change on Sunday with Kaitlyn Kyro from Ginnie Nicholson’s boat landing 3 Hatchery steelhead. She is now in 2nd Place Most Fish with 76.5 Hatchery inches! Congratulations Kaitlyn, way to get it done! They saw a second bobcat on Sunday too …

What a weekend we had, a lot of boats out every day and big fish with big lead changes! Kicking Friday 2/22 off with Dawn Christian’s boat, bringing 3 nice steelhead in! Dawn landed a 32″ Hatchery which also lands her in 4th place Biggest Fish! Dusty Preece’s Team, Running Upstream, had a fun on the water and just one steelhead but it was a whopper! 36″ Hatchery Steelhead for Dusty which slides her into 1st Place Biggest Fish!! Our other boats out caught some wild fish and some trash fish! We started having the snow storms move in Saturday and Sunday, so our fishing was a bit slower for the steelhead, But Glenna McClure’s boat found a nice honey …

We had just one boat out on the 19th, Karen Owen’s group. They dealt with an all out blizzard most of the day upriver but still managed to get some steelhead hooked! Thanks for sticking with it ladies, congrats on the catches!   The 21st, we had 3 boats out upriver. Jamie Louck’s group had a really fun day on the river and caught a couple steelhead too! Jennifer Tripp’s boat had a good fishing day, reeled in a couple wild fish and couple hatchery fish! They also saw something we don’t get to see every day on the river, a lion down on the river! Way cool, although no one was able to snap a picture, dangit! Laurie Anglen’s crew the …

The weather has continued to be very unpredictable but dang, we have been catching fish, ladies! Ya’ll have been determined and it is so fun to see! Leader board changes and new leaders every day. For the ladies that spent Valentine’s day on the river was a good one…..Forgive them significant others 😉 Wanda Clagg’s group reeled in 5 steelhead for the day, Wanda had two of those and it puts her into 2nd Place Most Fish!   Brenna Brown’s all caught steelhead! Brenna and Courtney’s actually landed them on our leaderboard too! Brenna is in 4th Place for Most Fish and Courtney is in a tie for 4th Place Biggest Fish! This day was extra special for these ladies, they …

This weather! Wow. One day warm and beautiful the next we wake up to a foot of snow! All the ladies are in such great spirits though, not slowing them down one bit! Oh and we have been catching some fish! On 2/9 over in Hells Canyon, Kandie Malone on her second cast in the first drift caught her a 27.5″ Steelhead which at the time put her into 4th place! She caught this steelhead using the custom rod by Brian DeMond that she was the lucky winner of last year in our raffle we did. She said it was her lucky pole and that is for sure, she had not even fished with it yet and got a beautiful …

These ladies are still sticking with it despite some cold snowy days, and now dealing with icy river conditions. Nothing will stop them from getting on those boats and poles in the water! On 2/5 we had a great group of ladies out with some, although cold, but beautiful snow. Jean was able to still hook onto a hog of a wild fish! She was super excited and was a fun battle. They also were able to witness right up close an eagle come sweep the river and grab a fish. Was yet another great day on the water! See the beautiful video of the day HERE.   On 2/7 and 2/8 we had the Jamie Vaden boats, team Snatch ‘N …

WWB 2019 Update 2/1 to 2/3 Big Excitement and some Big fish too! We have kicked off our first weekend with fish in the boat and some happy ladies. We had some ice flowing at first so we did some fishing in Hells Canyon and Hammer Creek, then we decided to bring a couple boats back over and were able to break some ice and fish at Spring Bar. We are unable to get the boats to Vinegar at this point due to the road conditions. A lot of the ice has flowed out as of yesterday, but we have some snow in forecast and some really cold night temperatures coming so we will be continuing to monitor the river …

Administrator Fishing Report, General Blog, Women With Bait 1 Comment

It is official, the steelhead season has be reopened! Women With Bait, steelhead tournament is on! We still need NOAA to approve the permit but there have been agreements reached to continue fishing until that time, which we are still hoping for that in a timely fashion. We want to Thank you, everyone, for all of your amazing support!! We appreciate you, this community, and IRCA for all the great things that have been done. We are having a celebration in the park today, instead of the protest that was planned. We will be posting more about that later, but for now take a look at the press releases from F&G and IRCA about the reopening of the season. We hope …
